Tired Looking Home Needed Updating

Jim was relocated out of state with his IT career for a "temporary" assignment. He had raised his family in this home and realized the home was "tired" looking and required updates. Jim needed an agent that would go above and beyond because he was living out of state. The agent had to be aggressive in marketing for the home to sell for the most amount of money and in the least amount of time.

Read Jim's story about his experience with Listing & Buyers Specialist, Susan Jennings of The Mary Ellen Vanaken Team and what advice he has for you.

A Permanent Move Inspired A Refresh

After several months of working in New Mexico, Jim realized that the move was going to be permanent and so he decided to sell his home in Johns Creek. He took the initiative, despite not living locally,  to have the home totally painted, re-carpeted, hardwood floors refinished, all new stainless steel kitchen appliances, kitchen cabinets painted, new tile backsplash in the kitchen, etc. to get the home in "move-in" ready condition for a potential buyer.  These updates cost about $25K but made a huge difference!

Why The Mary Ellen Vanaken Team?

When Jim met with Susan to discuss pricing the home, he was realistic about the home's value and had already done his homework on comps in the area.  Susan explained The Mary Ellen Vanaken Team approach to marketing his home which convinced Jim to immediately sign the listing agreement. He appreciated Susan's honesty, professionalism, and energy to get his home staged, photographed, and on the market quickly. Susan is known for her strong communication skills and these were important to Jim as he was not going to be local during the entire sales process.   Susan also explained that she lived close by and would check his home after showings to make sure lights were off and doors were locked. This was important to him as he was concerned about the security of the home.

What Stuck Out To You?

The home was already vacant when Susan first saw it.  Jim had a friend that assisted with home staging, so there were only minor things that needed to be done to get the home ready for photos and showings. This home sale was fairly smooth. Susan communicated as needed with Jim to make sure he did not have any stressful moments. "We had a good working relationship. I worked hard to make the entire process smooth and worry-free for Jim.  I was proactive on what needed to be done and worked behind the scenes to ensure a quick and seamless sales process from start to finish!" - Susan Jennings

How Was Susan Jennings Different?

Jim was impressed with how quickly Susan turned everything around... from meeting him at the best time for his schedule to completing listing documents, staging, photography, and getting the home listed.  Susan was laser-focused on his needs and responsive to every question. This home had multiple offers so Susan made a spreadsheet with the terms of each offer and then conferenced with Jim on the pros and cons of each offer to enable him to make a decision on which offer to select.
